Welcome to Baby Steps Photography and Design – the home of Sydney Photographers, Kate Facey and Amanda Wright.
As new Mums ourselves, we adore every moment with our little ones, and after years of being told so, we now understand just how “quickly they grow up”! We know just how important it is to capture every precious detail – tiny fingers and toes, wispy hair and little button noses!
With backgrounds in the Entertainment and Media Industries (Kate with Children’s Television programme, Hi-5, and Amanda with one of the Nations leading Print Media Groups), our collaboration in this next chapter of our lives was a natural and exciting progression, allowing us to indulge our passion for all things Baby!
We cherish the privilege of capturing these memories, and have so much fun with all the beautiful babies and children we are blessed to meet.
A shoot with Baby Steps is about the entire experience – from meeting your little one to receiving your finished art. We aim to give our clients a one stop “memory shop” – from prints and albums, to wall art and everything in between. We capture moments that you will fall in love with, and treasure forever.

Maternity shoots are best scheduled around the 37 to 38 week mark, where we can capture your beautiful baby belly before the big day arrives.
NEWBORN
A newborn shoot offers precious memories that you will treasure always – beautiful bundles of sleepiness with their teeny tiny fingers and toes.
The perfect time for us to meet your new arrival is between 6 to 10 days – the sleepier the better! We recommend you contact us prior to your birth with your estimated due date, and we can then confirm your shoot once your little one arrives. Newborn shoots can take up to 4 hours, as we work in with your baby’s natural sleeping and feeding schedule.
BABIES
Around 6 to 7 months is the perfect age for a baby shoot – their little personalities are really shining through and result in all sorts of wonderful expressions, smiles and laughter! Sitting (but not yet crawling away!) is the perfect time to bring your baby in to spend a few hours with us.
WHAT TO WEAR
We suggest bringing 2 or 3 outfits along for your baby (although we also can’t go past some gorgeous newborn nakedness for the little ones!). Where possible avoid large logos and writing on clothing.
WHAT TO BRING
You are welcome to bring along any special toys, books, blankets etc that you would like included in your photographs.
ILLNESS
If your child is unwell please call to re schedule your shoot - we want to capture your little one at their best!
AFTER YOUR SHOOT
A private online gallery will display approx 25 images from your shoot and will be available for viewing approximately 2 weeks after your shoot.
ORDERING
Once you have viewed your gallery, a Baby Steps representative will be available to assist you with your order. Orders are delivered approx 4 weeks from time of order (print only orders available after approx 2 weeks). Payments accepted by cash, cheque, direct deposit, Mastercard or Visa.
Baby Steps Photography and Design is your "one stop baby shop" offering an extensive range of products - prints, session albums, brag albums, framed prints, canvas, artmounts, gift cards and birth announcements.
Sitting Fee $150:
Sessions are approx 2hrs depending on the age of your child. (Please allow up to 4 hours for newborn sessions).
Maternity & Newborn Sitting Fee $200:
Combine a maternity and newborn session for an exta $50 (total session fee $200).
Photographic Prints:
Prices start at $35 for a 5x7 print.
